Vietnam Tour Packages – From Hanoi & Halong Bay to Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnam is difficult to describe as just one kind of holiday. Travel from north to south and the scenery, food, architecture and even the pace of life keep changing.
In Hanoi, mornings can begin with a walk through the Old Quarter and a bowl of pho at a small local restaurant. A few hours away, the city disappears and the limestone islands of Halong Bay take over. Travel further south and you reach Da Nang and Hoi An, where beaches, lantern-lit streets and a slower pace create a completely different experience. Then there is Ho Chi Minh City—busy, energetic and full of history, food and nightlife.
That contrast is what makes Vietnam such an interesting destination.
Our Vietnam tour packages can be customised for couples, honeymooners, families, groups of friends and private groups travelling from India. A shorter holiday can focus on one region, while travellers with eight to ten days can comfortably combine different parts of the country.
Vietnam also offers excellent value. Travellers can enjoy good hotels, private transfers, memorable food and quality experiences without necessarily needing the budget associated with many other international destinations.
Rather than trying to see the entire country in a few days, we recommend choosing a route that leaves enough time to actually experience the places you visit.
Vietnam stretches a long way from north to south, so choosing the right destinations is important. For a first visit, it helps to think of the country in three parts: North Vietnam, Central Vietnam and South Vietnam.
In the north, Hanoi is a natural starting point. The Old Quarter is full of narrow streets, cafés, markets and small restaurants, while lakes, temples and historic buildings reveal another side of the capital.
From Hanoi, many travellers continue to Halong Bay, one of Vietnam's most recognisable landscapes. Hundreds of limestone formations rise from the water, creating scenery best experienced aboard a cruise. Depending on your itinerary, you can choose between a day excursion or an overnight cruise.
In Central Vietnam, Da Nang combines a modern coastal city with long beaches and easy access to several major attractions. Nearby Hoi An feels completely different. Its historic streets, colourful lanterns, riverside restaurants and old buildings make it one of the most atmospheric stops in Vietnam.
Further south, Ho Chi Minh City introduces travellers to the country's modern, fast-moving side while retaining important reminders of its history. It also serves as a base for excursions towards the Mekong Delta and the Cu Chi Tunnels.
With more time, destinations such as Ninh Binh, Sapa, Phu Quoc and Hue can be added depending on the season and the experience you are looking for.
Let us help you create one, fill the in the details and we'll get back to you with plans.
Some of Vietnam's best experiences happen between the major attractions.
It might be sitting on a tiny chair outside a café in Hanoi, watching scooters flow through an intersection that somehow seems to work. It could be waking up on a boat surrounded by the limestone formations of Halong Bay, walking through Hoi An after the lanterns come on, or discovering a local dish you had never heard of before ordering it.
A Halong Bay cruise is understandably high on many travellers' lists. The scenery is impressive during the day, but spending a night on the water allows you to experience the bay at a much slower pace.
In Central Vietnam, spend time exploring Hoi An rather than treating it as a quick sightseeing stop. Walk through the old town, enjoy the riverside atmosphere and visit in the evening when lanterns change the character of the streets.
Food is another major part of travelling through Vietnam. Pho, banh mi, Vietnamese coffee, fresh seafood and regional specialities are worth exploring beyond hotel restaurants. Different parts of the country have their own flavours, so the food changes as your journey progresses.
Travellers interested in history can explore museums, historic landmarks and the Cu Chi Tunnels, while nature-focused itineraries can include mountains, caves, rice fields, beaches and river landscapes.
Vietnam rewards travellers who leave a little room in the itinerary for things they did not plan.
The biggest mistake when planning Vietnam is trying to cover too much of the country in too little time.
Because Vietnam is long and narrow, travelling between the north, centre and south often involves domestic flights. A well-planned itinerary should therefore balance the number of destinations with the amount of time you actually have.
For a shorter trip, you could focus on Hanoi and Halong Bay or combine Da Nang and Hoi An. With around a week, two regions can usually be combined comfortably. Travellers with nine or ten days can consider a broader journey connecting Hanoi, Halong Bay, Da Nang, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City.
At GTT Holidays, we customise Vietnam holidays according to your travel dates, number of travellers, preferred destinations, hotel category and budget. Packages can include hotels, airport transfers, domestic connections, sightseeing, Halong Bay cruises and selected experiences.
Honeymooners may prefer boutique hotels, scenic stays and a more relaxed itinerary. Families usually benefit from comfortable transfers and sensible sightseeing schedules. Groups of friends can combine sightseeing with food, nightlife and outdoor experiences.
Tell us when you want to travel, how many nights you have and who is travelling, and we can build the route around your trip rather than squeezing your trip around a fixed package.
